Bristol’s aerospace prowess powers Sora Aviation’s global success

The West of England’s world-leading aerospace sector has once again proven its strength, as Bristol-based Sora Aviation has secured a major pre-order for its groundbreaking S-1 eVTOL aircraft.

Moviation Inc., a leading South Korean helicopter operator, has placed an order for 20 of the company’s innovative 30-seat electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, reinforcing the region’s position at the forefront of aviation technology.

Sora Aviation, a fast-growing start-up based at Future Space, UWE, is developing the S-1 eVTOL as a low-emission, high-capacity transport solution for the future of urban air mobility. With a team of around 11 staff, the company is tapping into the region’s deep aerospace expertise, world-class research institutions, and strong supply chains to pioneer next-generation air travel.

The West of England has long been a powerhouse in aerospace innovation, home to industry giants and cutting-edge research hubs. This thriving ecosystem provides start-ups like Sora Aviation with access to top-tier talent, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and an environment that fosters technological breakthroughs.

Moviation’s decision to integrate the S-1 into its fleet highlights the growing global demand for sustainable air transport solutions. The South Korean operator, which manages the Jamsil Heliport in Seoul, is leading the charge in urban air mobility, and its partnership with Sora Aviation signals a major step toward the future of affordable, eco-friendly aerial transport.
