Bristol has been named the second-best city in the UK to launch a business in 2025, according to new research by Approved Business Finance. The study assessed the UK’s 60 largest cities, considering key factors such as commercial property costs, GDP, education levels, and high-speed internet availability to determine the best locations for new ventures.

With an average commercial space cost of £57 per square foot and nearly 90% of businesses benefiting from high-speed internet, Bristol offers a strong foundation for entrepreneurs looking to set up and grow their businesses. The city’s thriving economy, skilled workforce, and robust digital infrastructure make it an ideal location for start-ups, even in challenging economic conditions.

  • Avg cost per sq ft of commercial space: £57
  • Share of high-speed internet connections: 89.1
  • No. of Business closures per 10,000 population: 47
  • Total index score: 65.63

As the cost of goods and commercial properties continues to rise, securing a commercial mortgage or alternative funding could provide the financial flexibility needed to establish a successful business in Bristol’s dynamic market.
