The Food WorksSW is a state-of-the-art food and drink innovation centre in Weston-super-Mare, near the M5. Developed by North Somerset Council, it supports businesses from start-ups to established brands.
Located in a Food Enterprise Zone, it offers specialist product development kitchens, food-grade business units, meeting rooms, and on-site technical support. Since opening in 2020, it has reached full capacity, attracting national and international businesses.
Phase 2 seeks investment for larger food-grade units (3,000–7,000 sq ft) to help companies expand, innovate, and export, with access to existing business support and facilities.
In the pre-submission North Somerset Local Plan 2040, Weston-super-Mare remains the focus for new employment growth. Development at Weston Enterprise Area will remain a priority. The previous remaining employment allocations at the Parklands Village allocation have been reviewed and are proposed to be consolidated into a new, more visible, and commercially attractive 12.3 ha site at West Wick roundabout with easy access to the motorway.
