“Bristol is a great home for us because of its fantastic links to the aerospace and defence communities and in Luxembourg they are very passionate about sustainability in defence so both these locations make perfect sense for us.”
In 2023, Uplift360 secured funding to collaborate with the Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology, developing non-fossil-fuel circular materials. By 2024, the company launched a cutting-edge chemical recycling facility in Europe.
In 2024, Uplift360 achieved 99% pure material recovery from resin-coated composites using a room-temperature process, revolutionising recycling for high-performance materials like carbon fiber and Kevlar®.
At RIAT 2024, Uplift360 partnered with Babcock to recycle and repurpose composite materials from defence equipment, advancing circular economy solutions in the UK defence sector.
The team grew by six in 2024, including four scientists, one senior lead and one marketing lead, enhancing innovation and operational capacity.
Uplift360 earned finalist nominations for Deep Tech Investment of the Year and Innovation in Composites Manufacture, won 3rd at CYEL Gala 2024, and was a top 20 finalist for JEC Paris 2025 Startup Booster.
The company raised €1m in pre-seed funding, led by Promus Ventures, to scale its technology and expand its team.
Scaling technology and expanding talent
Uplift360 plans to use its recent funding to develop a first-of-its-kind concept demonstrator for its recycling technology. The company anticipates adding six more members to its team in 2025, as it continues to attract top-tier talent to advance its mission.
Regional focus
With its presence in South Gloucestershire, Uplift360 benefits from Bristol’s strong ties to the aerospace and defence industries. The company also maintains a strategic collaboration in Luxembourg, leveraging the region’s commitment to sustainability in defence.
Community and support
Uplift360 operates from Future Space, UWE Bristol’s innovation centre. This location generates collaboration with like-minded startups and provides access to resources like UWE’s engineering department and R&D Pathway Project, helping the company connect with student interns and new opportunities.
Bristol provides exceptional access to aerospace and defence networks, establishing it as an ideal base for Uplift360's operations. Similarly, Luxembourg's commitment to sustainable solutions aligns seamlessly with the company's mission, creating a strong synergy between its two operational hubs.
Invest Bristol & Bath played a pivotal role in supporting Uplift360 by facilitating an introduction to the University of the West of England (UWE). This connection enabled discussions around the potential for Uplift360 to access a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), providing valuable resources to enhance their R&D efforts.
